How Does Invisalign® Work?
Rather than metal brackets and wires, this innovative orthodontic treatment uses clear aligner trays to straighten your teeth. If you choose this option, Dr. Ben Reyhani or Dr. Pasha Hakimzadeh will take pictures and digital impressions of your teeth. Your dentist will display these images on a computer screen, and he can alter them to show you how your smile will change during your treatment. Then he will send your pictures to an Invisalign® lab, where technicians will create custom-crafted aligners. Made with a highly precise mathematical formula, each tray will exert a slightly different force on your teeth to move them into proper alignment. You should wear each tray for about two weeks before switching to the next in the series. In most cases, you will see your final results in 9 to 18 months.
What Are the Advantages of Invisalign®?
There are a number of reasons to choose Invisalign® at West Hills Dental. One of the top reasons is that Invisalign® trays are extremely subtle. Even when they are standing at a close distance, most people will never realize that you are wearing clear braces. More importantly, however, Invisalign® is extremely effective. It can correct slightly crooked teeth, as well as overbites, underbites, and similar forms of malocclusion. Additionally, Invisalign® is an extremely gentle treatment. The clear, BPA-free aligner trays have a smooth surface that typically will not irritate the inside of your mouth. The trays also exert a gentler force than traditional metal braces. Finally, because Invisalign® trays are removable, it will be easier to maintain proper dental hygiene. You will face a much lower risk of decay and dental discoloration during the course of your treatment.
Will I Have to Change My Diet during Treatment?
No. When you choose Invisalign® treatment at West Hills Dental, you can continue to enjoy all of your favorite foods. Simply remove the aligners while you are eating, and put them back in as soon as you have brushed and flossed your teeth.
What Are the Long-Term Benefits for My Dental Health?
Although you may first notice the cosmetic benefits of Invisalign®, the treatment can also improve your oral health for the rest of your life. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean properly. Therefore, with a straighter smile, you will have a much lower risk for dental decay. Additionally, when you have a misaligned bite, you may develop occlusal disease. In turn, this can lead to dental damage, tooth erosion, jaw inflammation, and much more. Invisalign® can even out the force of your bite to protect your oral-systemic health.
Is Invisalign® or ClearCorrectTM a Better Option for Me?
At West Hills Dental, we offer two types of clear braces. ClearCorrectTM is similar to Invisalign®, and it can provide comparable results. The best way to determine the right treatment for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Reyhani or Dr. Hakimzadeh.
